Support Local! Local Singapore Beauty Brands You Should Know!

Indie beauty brands are popping out everywhere and there is a trend of purchasing indie beauty products rather than from the huge makers. It is not surprising as more and more of us are more well researched into our regimes and products we use, we tend to scrutinize on the products and even brands. From the ingredients to being cruelty-free, people are more willing to spend more for a green product than from a big label who uses animal testing.

So here are some indie beauty brands that we found out in Singapore!

Allies of Skin

Allies of skin is a luxury beauty brand that focus on skincare. The brand is founded by Nicolas Travis who is a Singaporean. The concept of the brand is to create fuss-free simple routines while not jeopardizing the effects as compared to long and cumbersome routines. Allies of skin has been a really successful brand and have wide outreach in overseas market as well.

13rushes

13rushes is a home grown brand that sells makeup brushes. The brushes are all cruelty-free which only uses synthetic fibers, and are vegan. The brushes are super good quality and the owner Ms Tay Yu Hui, whom I’ve met in person is a really dedicated person about her products and her brand. She will not release any products with the slightest defects even if it is just the paint jobs. 13rushes is by far one of my favorite makeup brushes.

Reposting this beautiful post from @beautifulbuns_sg 😍 ・・・ Painting le face to paint the town red is so much more awesome with these ultra soft, fluffeh, lush and plush brushes from @13rushes ~ I'm also loving, loving the new super fine Microfinishing Pressed Powder from @makeupforeversg - you haz to try it! The super pigmented glittery eyeshadow from @stilacosmetics has crazy colour payoff, while @esteelauder 's Pure Colour Envy Oil-Infused Sculpting Lipstick and its silver and gold oils will keep my lips hydrated all night. FAUX FAYC

FAUX FAYC is a makeup brand inspired to create makeup that suits the Asian woman and the climate. The brand took off with the introduction of a fiber mascara which, instead of the regular white fibers, they used black fibers which saves the trouble of reapplying another layer of mascara over and also further enhancing and volumizng  the lashes.

What's your favourite? 😉 #fauxfayc

WANT Skincare is an ethical brand that advocates sustainability and the empowerment of marginalized women. The products are formulated using pure botanical oils and minerals that are free from any artificial ingredients and are cruelty-free. By purchasing their items, you are contributing to the local communities especially to women in cooperatives in Indonesia and Africa.

The Gentle Label

The Gentle Label is a fairly new beauty brand that focus on using simple and organic ingredients to create multi-functional products. Their products are certified by UK Soil Association and are formulated with only the essential ingredients.

There are still many many more local indie beauty brands waiting to be discovered, I would love to create more posts to discover more of such brands, perhaps specifically dedicated to handcrafted soap and fragrances.

I hope this post was helpful in informing fellow Singaporeans on the initiatives that we have and hopefully gather more support for our home grown brands!
